Save the Date!

We're so excited to kick off a new school year in District 100! This time of year is when we get to know and celebrate our new teachers at a pizza party here at home in Berwyn. After the rush of back-to-school settles down, we're always so excited to share stories and get to know one another over pizza at Michael Anthony's. Be sure to save the date for our upcoming social!

Indivisible Guide: A Practical Guide for Resisting the Trump Agenda

With the new president having been in office for just less than one month, many people are wondering what they can do to make a difference in the fight to keep American values of inclusion, tolerance, and fairness. The general population may not be aware of what kinds of action *actually make members of Congress listen. Enter Indivisible: A Practical Guide for Resisting the Trump Agenda.

The guide is described in this way:
The authors of this guide are former congressional staffers who witnessed the rise of the Tea Party. We saw these activists take on a popular president with a mandate for change and a supermajority in Congress. We saw them organize locally and convince their own Members of Congress (MoCs) to reject President Obama's agenda.
We believe that protecting our values, our neighbors, and ourselves will require mounting a similar resistance to the Trump agenda - but a resistance built on the values of inclusion, tolerance, and fairness.
This guide focuses on four categories that everyday Americans can use to make their MoCs listen. They include:

How grassroots advocacy worked to stop President Obama: We examine lessons from teh Tea Party's rise and recommend two key strategic components.

How your MoC thinks - reelection, reelection, reelection - and how to use that to save democracy.

Identify or organize your local group.

Four local advocacy tactics that actually work: Town Halls, Other local public events, district office visits, and coordinated calls.

If you have a passion for activism, check out this guide and start organizing!

Additionally, you can connect with this group on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram

10 Actions

Were you part of the momentous Women's March on January 21, 2017? If you were or if you missed it, the action doesn't stop there! The Women's March has put together 10 actions for the first 100 days of President Trump's administration.

The first action is a call for each of us to send post cards to our senators telling them what we care about. The Women's March website shares a great idea - get some friends or neighbors together for dinner and have a postcard writing event!

The website is great - even has a space for you to enter your zip code to find the information you need to send your postcard to the right place.

It's activities like these that bring us together. It's action like this that lets us make a difference. It's time for our voice to be heard!

Be sure to check out our blog here or sign up from emails from The Women's March to keep up with the 10 actions. More to come in the next few days!
